Ryuji Fukuda

Chairman Emeritus

Dr. Ryuji Fukuda is one of the World’s leading experts in the field of industrial engineering, stockless production, and quality improvement. He had a brilliant career with leading Japanese firms, including nearly 30 years at Sumitomo Electric. He has served as a consultant to the Japan Management Association and to major firms in Japan, North America and Europe. In 1978 he was honored with prestigious Deming Prize for his contribution to the field of productivity and quality improvement. He has developed “SEDAC” a team oriented approach to Continuous Systematic Improvement, the P/O matrix – a tool for Policy Deployment and is also one of the originators of the “Stockless Production” system.

Dr. Ryuji Fukuda graduated from the engineering department of Kyoto University in 1954 and entered Sumitomo Electric Industries Ltd. He served Sumitomo in a number of managerial positions and in 1975 became the Director of the Industrial Engineering department at the company’s head office.

From 1981 through 1992, Dr. Fukuda served on the board of directors and as a General Manager and Advisor for Meidensha Electric Manufacturing Company Ltd. From 1983 to the present he has been an independent management consultant and an advisor to the Japan Management Association.

Dr. Fukuda served as a part-time lecturer on Reliability Engineering in the System Engineering department at Kobe University from 1976 through 1987. He is the author of numerous works that have been translated into many other languages. The books translated into English are Managerial Engineering - Techniques for Improving Quality and Productivity in the Workplace (Productivity Press, 1983), CEDAC - A Tool for Continuous Systematic Improvement (Productivity Press, 1989) and Building Organizational Fitness – Management methodology for transformation and strategic advantage (Productivity Press, 1997).

His clients include leading companies like Sony, Nikon, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries., Fuji-Xerox, Sumitomo Special Metals, Sumitomo Electric Ind., Alfa-Lancia, Ferrari, Michelin, Fincantieri, Pratt & Whitney, ITT and Volvo.

Prof Indira J. Parikh

Prof. Parikh is the former Dean, Indian Institute of Management. Ahmedabad, and currently the President of Foundation of Liberal And Management education. She is a leading consultant in Organization Behavior and Development. Dr. Parikh has taught at INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France and Texas A & M University, USA. Prof. Parikh was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for the Best Teacher in Management by Ascent in the World HRD Congress, 2001. She completed her BA in Social Studies in 1969 and MA in Education in 1970 from the University of Rochester USA. She did her Ph.D in 1979 from Gujarat University Ahmedabad. Prof. Parikh is the founding member of Sumedhas Academy for Human Context an institution that offers a professional internship in Applied Behavioral Sciences, as well as the Indian Academy for Organization Development. She also has many publications to her credit - Books, research papers, monographs, articles, working papers, etc.

Ashok Malhotra

Ashok Malhotra, an IIM (Ahmedabad) alumnus , is an Organization Consultant based out of Bengaluru. He is the author of the framework on which the EUM-I, EUM – O, EUM – M and other tools he has designed are based. Ashok is a researcher at heart, a gifted teacher and communicator, a past practitioner of Human Resource Management, an insightful observer of human processes and a consultant who facilitates organic evolution of organizations. Inspired by Clare Graves’ work on evolution, the EUM framework is based on the basic principle that an individual, during the course of his/her life, journeys through distinct states of existence. No state is a closed system but is characterized by needs, wants, beliefs, values, and proclivities that are specific and consistent with corresponding life conditions.

Authored the Existential Universe Mapper Framework and Suite of Tools, the only set of organisation diagnostic tools developed indigenously in India. The tools include organisation mapping, diagnosis and 360 degree leadership orientation mappers. The tools have been deployed in over 100 independent organisations in India and have a database of over 3500 managers working in Indian and multinational organisations in India and abroad.
Study of structural change in seven large Indian Organisations over a span of ten years, nature of changes made and factors leading to different kinds of changes. Published in Administrative Staff College of Indian Journal of Management 1973, co-authored with Dr. B.L.Maheshwari.

Raghu Ananthanarayanan

Raghu Ananthanarayanan is a Post-Graduate in Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras.  He is a leading consultant to several blue chip companies - Indian as well as Multinational. He has devoted almost two decades to transforming the organizational culture of several leading organizations.  He is one of the founders of Sumedhas – The Academy for Human Context. He is a visiting faculty at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He has taught at Institute of Rural Management, Anand, and Indian Institute of Management - Bangalore. He has studied yoga with Yogacharya Krishnamacharya & TKV Desikarchari. He has taught yoga at Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram for a decade and published a world-renowned book on Yoga.

Raghu’s present focus is in organisation design and change management. He has developed a unique methodology called “Totally Aligned Organisation” that brings together his understanding of Manufacturing Systems, Human Processes and Yoga. He has published a book (The Totally Aligned Organisation) where he has elaborated upon some of the key ideas from Yoga and process work that he has used in a management context.

S Badri Narayana

Badri Narayana S is a mechanical engineer graduate from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, Lean Master, IPS Practitioner, a Six Sigma black belt  and a Fellow of Sumedhas Academy for Human Context. Over two decades he has implemented Change Management, Lean manufacturing and Lean organizational practices in a wide variety of industries like Packaging, Apparels, Aerospace, Machine Tools, Engineering, Electronics, FMCG, Food and Beverages, Pharmaceuticals, Plastics, Oil and Gas Sector and Consumer durables. Abhay Phadnis

Abhay Phadnis is a  B.A. (Psychology) from Poona University and a M.A. (PM&IR) from Tata Institute of Social Sciences and a Gold Medalist.

He has extensive COACHING & COUNSELLING EXPERIENCE and has logged over 750 hours of executive coaching including coaching based on tools like MBTI, CPI-260, and StrengthsFinder. His repertoire of experience include  psychometric instrument-based counselling (using MBTI, EUM, FIRO-B, CPI-260, 16PF, Workplace Big 5). He has  worked with David Leeper (master coach and coach supervisor based in the UK) on facilitation of coach training programmes in India; he is also my supervisor coach.
